The Rod 'N Roll is used for holding your needlework while you are stitching. It is an alternative to hoops and frames. It was initially invented for needlepoint canvas and crewel, but cross stitchers also have found it is the perfect tool to hold your needlework. Linen lovers especially love the Rod 'N Roll. Rolling the fabric allows you to lay the linen over the finger and "sew" the stitches from the front side; the considered "proper" way to stitch on linen. The Rod 'N Roll eliminates the need for hoops. When holding a hoop, your hands are on the top of the fabric, soiling the fabric and creating a dirty ring through your needlework. In most instants the hoop also has to be moved around on the fabric and crushes your stitches. Most needlework does not require to be stretched for even tension. Often, stitchers using a hoop tend to make their stitches too tight. When holding a Rod 'N Roll, normally your hands are only touching the back side of the fabric and your stitches are not crushed. As you work down the pattern, remove your pins and unroll the amount of fabric you need exposed and replace the pins. The Rod 'N Roll eliminates the need for frames. Frames are a fine tool if placed on a stand. However, if you wish to hand hold and carry your needlework with you, the frames are too heavy to hold comfortably and are usually large and bulky to carry around. The Rod 'N Roll is the perfect item for stitchers that want it to be portable. Whatever the size of piece, by rolling it up, it is fairly small. Rolling it also eliminates the creases by folding to store. When holding heavy frames or hoops, your wrist can become tired. The Rod 'N Roll is so lightweight, you'll find yourself stitching longer, comfortably.
The Rod 'N Roll are available in 10", 14", 18" and 24" lengths. At the modest price, you'll want several lengths, for all you're projects. Sold in fine needlework shops. See our shop page for your closest shop, or see our order page.
